Six winter fashion trends you need to know in 2022
Trends come and go, and many of them complete a cycle, as we all know. It is the same this Winter. The suggestions provided below can help you venture out in the chilly weather looking stylish if you're trying to enhance your winter wardrobe with only a few key pieces or new silhouettes.
Oversized Outerwear
One
thing is undeniably true about trench coats, puffers, and blazers: larger
silhouettes are unquestionably in. Everyone has embraced the cosy, slouchy
upsizing à la The Frankie Shop and Camilla and Marc, as shown below, from local
designers to international runways to street style enthusiasts. This is one
trend that you can essentially layer over the rest of your wardrobe, whether
it's a boxy, enormous blazer with exaggerated shoulders, a spacious
below-the-knee cocoon coat, or a bomber jacket inspired by streetwear that is
larger than life. SIZING UP is the secret to pulling off this look! Bigger is
better, obviously.
Tonal Dressing
Tonal
dressing has advanced significantly. Choose one colour and base your entire
ensemble on it, experimenting with texture and fabric to make one piece stand
out from the others. Having complementary accessories shows even more dedication
to the style! You may interpret this trend in any colour you like, but for me,
neutral colours like black, grey, taupe, and camel work best. Here are several
pictures for ideas, one of which has our very own stylist Loré wearing matching
indigo and navy jeans.
Chunky Knitwear
A
cosy, roomy sweater is still a major style for Winter 22 despite seeming like
an obvious pick for the colder months. The wonderful thing about a statement
jumper is that it can be worn on its own; you can pair it with your favourite
pair of jeans, a midi skirt, or even a maxi dress without
needing to do anything else. You can complete a nice winter look by adding some
boots. Although I myself like a turtleneck, the options listed below are
suitable for people who prefer less hassle around their neck.
Leather
We've
all certainly owned (and still probably own) a leather jacket, but the range of
leather clothing and the "kind" of leather available has grown
throughout time. There is truly something for everyone in 2022, whether you
favour synthetic leather or real leather. Leather is a fantastic way to add
interest because of how well its smooth texture blends with knits, silks, and
cottons. Furthermore, the fabric is quite transseasonal. Consider wearing a
leather shirt, skirt, or pant this winter.
Chunky Boots
The
chunky boot is one shoe trend that is still popular today. It's time to dust
out any old Doc Martens you may still have stashed in the back of your closet.
Or, for a new, contemporary look, you might add a new boot style to your winter
outfit. Although black boots might seem to be the standard, the non-black
options listed below can just give your winter wardrobe the refresh it needs.
Chocolate Brown
This
winter, do yourselves a favour and stock up on chocolate! In order
to coat myself up like a box of chocolates, I can't wait for
Melbourne's temperature to finally drop. I adore chocolate brown!
